The String Mountain Band

Now also on myspace and facebook

The String Mountain Band play an ecclectic mix of folk-bluegrass with a set list that varies from original tunes, to unique covers of more familiar songs, and classic bluegrass gospel.  Founded by guitarist Vernon Cross in 2003, the String Mountain Band are:

Vernon Cross - Rhythm Guitar, Mandolin, Fiddle, Vocals
Audie Finnell - Lead Guitar, Five String Banjo, Vocals
Mark Pistrang - Six String Banjo, Guitar, Strum Stick, Vocals
Rondell Raburn - Upright Bass
Rick Whitten - Harmonica, Guitar, Vocals

The String Mountain Band have two self-produced CD's (Saturday Night and Sunday Morning) that were recorded at 1point21 Enterprises, Cleveland, TN.... formerly Giant Chicken Studios.  Saturday Night contains SMB favorites while Sunday Morning is purely Bluegrass Gospel.  Mouse-over the "String Mtn Band" link at the top left of this page for more options including information on each disc and audio samples of the songs. Full length audio also available at: www.myspace.com/markpistrang

What people are saying:  "You and your southern brothers got the Sunday morning twang thing honed to a brighter place than a case hardened Jim Bowie knife after a work out on an Arkansas whetstone.  House of Gold is FREAKING AMAZING!! and Sixteen Years... Someone ought to make a FREAKING movie out of that song.  It is the ultimate road trip song and is so true for anyone who has made the journey... you captured the subliminal concept that a journey is the present reality of miles traveled and the edgy gray matter canyons of our minds."  Steve Freitas - Packwood, WA
