The Strawberry Music Festival

Every Memorial Day and Labor Day Weekend
What are you waiting for??

Ask any of the artists and they'll tell you it is "the festival of festivals".  Ask any of the fans and they'll likely just smile... they don't want to say too much because the demand for tickets each year has been increasing at a frenetic pace.  I'm not too worried about luring you to go by writing this... chances are if you are visiting my site, you're already a Strawberry Veteran!!  Strawberry is simply four days of musical bliss if you're into the folk, bluegrass, singer-songwriter, americana, xgrass, newgrass, swing-grass, afro-celtic-zydeco-jazz-grass scene... and, I mean, c'mon... who isn't??!!  And even if you hate music you'd be happy at Camp Mather with it's magestic trees, spacious meadows and proximity to Yosemite National Park.  I originally stumbled into the fest in 1984 with my best buddy Pete and we both were awakened by the vibe.  We missed a few fests to do crazy stuff like go to grad school, but have basically been going every year since 1988 and at this point it's just what we do!!  "First came here back in '84, didn't really know what the music was for, but it touched my soul and kept me coming back.  The first few years it was just the guys, now we're bringing kids and wives, and tents, and trailers, and everything we can pack..."
A little history on the camp names....Camp O'Boy and O'Girl are Located along Meadow View Trail near it's junction with the walking path that crosses Coyote Meadow. The name O'Boy might remind some of one of Tim O'Brien's bands, but actually is just Pete's favorite name for those small blue houses that always seem to be near... Various folks in the Camp O'Girl crowd have also been coming to Strawberry since the beginning of time, but around 1997 these fine people met the Camp O'Boy folks and the two began a consolidation process.  As in most relationships, each camp wanted to have their own identity and the youngest in their camp at the time (Avery, 4yrs old) decided that if we were "O'Boy" then they should be "O'Girl".  . The rest is history.  Click on the images below for a sample of "Strawberry Life".  See ya on the meadow....
