Crybaby Rose - Songs of Life

Crybaby Rose is the band that lives inside Mark Pistrang's head.  It's quite different from the The String Mountain Band which is the band he actually plays in... (see links above). The name Crybaby Rose was conceived while "sitting in a deck chair high up over Kansas City..." well, sorta maybe.  At any rate, there were some good laughs in an airplane coming up with it.  The CD Songs of Life includes original tunes that were written about life experiences because, well.... thats life.  The songs are recorded on a Fostex VF80 8-track digital recorder in multi-track format.  All represent original music and lyrics written with all parts (instruments and vocals) perfomed by Mark Pistrang.  Instruments include a Martin D-1 acoustic guitar and a Deering 6-string banjo.  All songs are currently being re-mastered in preparation of offering the disc for sale.  In the mean time, for a sample, click on a song in the jukebox below, or one of the music icons at the bottom of the page.

Christopher Jay Pistrang was diagnosed with Type I Juvenile Diabetes on March 13th, 2000. At the time he was 20 months old. We've come a long way in our ability to manage his diabetes over the last 7 years, including switching from daily injections to an insulin pump, but he still faces the dramatic swings (highs and lows) of blood sugars that are the bane of diabetics. It's easy to get depressed in these situations but the guiding light for having a positive outlook is Christopher himself. He has such resilience and refuses to let the disease keep him from being a fun loving kid, much less the star soccer player he has become! I process alot of life through song, and wrote a tribute to Chris entitled "Two Shots a Day" several years ago.
